#1- following my heart

Hello reader,
I am writing it sitting in my lawn. Hearing voices of sprinklers, birds, dogs, some instects and obviously humans. Watching the sky and flying birds. Sky is turning to light blue from dark blue. Jet airways are on the way to Mangalore. And then mom calls me -_-. Yes, moms are like that. They won't let you to live in dream world. Smoothly they drag you to reality.

After doing all works mom assigned me, I argue with granny saying I don't need dosa and run back to lawn, playing with water in middle. Time shows 6.11pm. The colour of sky turning to black slowly. Birds stopped chirping. Now I can hear only silence and my  memories. Memories of how crazy wishes brings smile on face of my dear ones.

We call those things as crazy which a sound minded person of that age, in that region WILL NOT do NORMALLY. Like watching the rain in night and trying to catch rain drop in your main finger without making other fingers wet and many more.

I don't remember exactly when my crazy wishes started. But at present I am remembering an instance of higher primary. At 6th/7th we had a lesson of Nivedita, a young girl who was from a wealthy family of Udupi. When Mahatma Gandhi visited Udupi, he saw a small girl sacrificing her gold bangles for nation. He called her and told to sacrifice her gold chain and earrings. She was in panic, still gave those to Gandhi. He returned her those gold chain and earrings with smile and told her about poverty of our nation also it's wrong to ware gold when people in other part of nation are facing difficulty even for their food. He took a promise from her that she will not ware gold until the nation is free from poverty. After that I heard she became famous doctor serving millions of people. And she dint ware gold in her life (Pardon me if I am wrong. I am writing it with the help of memories I have. I can search on internet. But I don't think it will give you my real feelings)

My teacher described it soo well that I felt that I am nivedita and I should not ware gold because my country  is still facing poverty. So I came home and gave  all my gold ornaments to mom. Big arguments happened. Finally I was successful. But she refused to take the gold earrings.

When I remember it now, I laugh. I think I was nivedita for almost 2 years. Even though it did not help the nation to fix the poverty, I got reason to smile and feel the patriotism. I am sure many of us did things like this and feel uncomfortable to share. I am telling you my friend, this might not be patriotism in others eyes. But we did our best. At the age of 12/13, living in small village giving away gold may look like crazy to all. We might have passed through many situations like that. But what I am thinking is things like this help us to develop our attitude. When we stop caring for people and think in our way, even though we are called as pagal's, we can realise many things. Either by mistakes or success.  Also if we do things we like, we can enjoy each moment of it. My mom always says," Try new mistakes. But learn from each mistake and don't repeat it."

Back to my story, almost 2 years later when I was going to high school both my mom and granny wanted me to ware gold  chain and I couldn't say no. Now my mom tell this to others and laugh heartily. That patriotism of mine still brings smile in her face and I know she have a secret proud feeling towards me in her heart after this instance. I am happy and satisfied by it;-)

Happy weekend:-)

With love,
Vaishnavi
